Nǐ hǎo! I am StJohn Wright from Notarial Services (Yorkshire & Derbyshire) Limited, practicing as StJohn Wright Notary Public. Welcome to the fifth blog post about ‘Flags of the World’: this week the blog post is about China.

The red colour of the Chinese flag symbolises the Chinese Communist Revolution, the five stars represent the unity of four social classes of Chinese people under the Chinese Communist Party.

China is one of the world’s earliest civilisations, with a recorded history of over 5000 years. In the 21st Century BC, China became an enslaved society with the founding of the Xia Dynasty, which helped to end the primitive society that existed before it. In 221BC, Qin Shihuang established China’s first centralised autocracy, known as the Qin Dynasty. In 1911 (AD), the Bourgeois Democratic Revolution happened, this was led by Sun Yat-sen and ended over 2000 years of a feudal monarchical system; it also helped establish the provisional government of the Republic of China. With such a rich, cultural history, it is understandable that many people like to send their child abroad to travel and experience countries like China. If you are in this situation, you are likely to require consent to do this in the form of a document, produced by a Notary Public, such as myself.

Did you know that the Great Wall of China is not one wall, but a collection of walls spanning over 20,000 km? Over 2000 years ago, Emperor Qin connected the walls to defend the land. The workers even used glutinous rice flour in the mortar due to its stickiness.

China’s traditional dish is Peking duck, which was originally made in Beijing. It was savoured for its thin and crispy skin. Sliced Peking duck is often eaten with pancakes, sweet bean sauce or soy sauce with mashed garlic. Chinese food varies regionally, and is based on five flavours: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy. Producing authentic Chinese food requires great skill to balance all five flavours to create a tasty dish. Why don’t you travel to China to taste such food, because this food is much fresher made in China than in a Chinese takeaway in the UK.

A popular drink in China is Tieguanyin (‘Iron Goddess of Mercy’) and its taste is between black and green tea with a faint yellow colour. The brew smells fresh and floral with hints of berry and fruit. This drink is a premium variety of oolong tea, which presents a sweet honey after-taste.

The Yangtze River (“Chang Jiang”) is the longest river in Asia and the 3rd longest in the world. Also, Giant Pandas are the national animal of China and they do not hibernate. Their famous diet consists of bamboo, and they eat for 10-16 hours per day. Would you like to get married next to the gorgeous views of the Yangtze River and then retreat to see Giant Pandas in the wild? If so, you will need to see a Notary Public about how to legally get married abroad, please contact me via the details below.

To conclude, I am a Notary, who has been practicing for 16 years, and I would urge you to get into contact with me if you require any of the services that I have mentioned in this blog post. Please see my website (Notary in Sheffield | England | StJohn Wright Notary Public) to find out more about me and what I can do to help you. Also, do not hesitate to call me on 07863252272.
